Dawn Princess Cruise Ship, May 8, 2003
The Princess Cruise Lines Dawn Princess arrives in Honolulu Harbor. US Coast Guard vessels wait nearby.
Security in Hawaii's Honolulu Harbor has increased dramatically as the Coast Guard's presence has
become very high profile.
Unable to dock at the main Cruise Terminal at Aloha Tower, the Dawn is sent to a nearby cargo pier.
Honolulu Harbor hasn't taken any steps to build support facilities for expected increase of cruise ship
traffic. It has been discussed for years, but no action has been taken anywhere in the State of Hawaii

Island Princess Cruise Ship, November 12, 2004
Princess Cruises Pacific Princess entering Honolulu Harbor. Early morning VOG adds a brown haze to the
horizon. VOG is a volcanic fog that we get here in Oahu when the sulfur dioxide gases from the Big
Islands volcano are blown in from the south. This adds 300-13,000 tons of greenhouse gasses to the
environment each day. Seems Pele doesn't want to be very policitally correct.
